It all started with a batch of Beef Liver and Buckwheat treats made in Baker Chris’ kitchen…… PureDog All Natural Dog Treats was founded in 2008 by Baker Chris Haynie and his dog, Captain Midnight. Shortly after coming to live with Chris, in 2004, Captain Midnight was having allergy issues. Baker Chris called a friend of his in the veterinary field to get recommendations on what to do. Even though the Captain was not happy about it, but he endured the allergy tests. Unfortunately, he was found to be allergic to wheat and corn. Baker Chris was very concerned and began researching canine nutrition and food allergies. Wanting the very best for him, Captain beganeating premium kibbles but Chris had problems finding dry treats didn’t contain wheat or corn as an ingredient. As they say “necessity is the mother of invention”, so Baker Chris got to work! After many trial and errors, the recipe for the dry treats was born. Now that Captain Midnight had his Basic Dry Treats, Baker Chris wanted to come up with an extra special treat. One that could be used while hiking, for training purposes or for special occasions. Baker Chris already knew the Captain was a big fan of beef liver. Therefore, he began working toward a way of baking the beef liver so it was preserved over long periods of time without adding preservatives. More trials and errors and the Just Meat© line was born. Baker Chris’ creation of the Just Meat© line could become the high point in modern dog treat evolution. In early 2009, Baker Chris’s close friend and business partner, Mr. William Vaughn, decided it was time to expand and begin the process of sharing the all natural dog treat. With some help from his neighbor and marketing advisor Mr. Mike Means, Baker Chris began his quest to produce on a large scale thefinest all natural allergy friendly dog treat available today.
