Baker Chris was at his favorite sushi place one afternoon taking a lunch break. He likes to sit at the sushi bar and pester the sushi chef with questions about their techniques, ingredients, and tips for making his own sushi at home.The baker’s favorite sushi chef was making his lunch when they started talking about cat treats. The baker was explaining to his sushi chef about how he needed to come up with a new cat treat. Thesushi chef, who is always generous with his slices of toro and hamachi, told the baker to go “look in your kitchen cabinet” as he hooked him up with a giant order of delicious toro. The baker wandered home dazed and confused trying to figure out what the hell his friend had meant.
A few weeks later the baker was feeling sick so he wanted to make some soup…he began to prep the base for his Japanese Dashi stock when he remembered the sushi chef’s wise words and saw his Katsuo flakes and Kombu stash. Katsuo is refered to as Bonito by most westerners. Bonito is a type of tuna that is almost exclusively dried and used in soup bases and other applications in Japanese cuisine. It is something the Baker uses at least once a week and he had been overlooking it all along. The baker’s favorite sushi chef is indeed a wise man, always listen when a good sushi chef speaks.
After pre-production testing on his cat named Jack Straw (named for the grateful dead song, not the British Minister) Baker Chris felt confident all cats will love the human grade Dried Tuna flakes. Initial samples were to friends and their cats and the response was unanimous among cats: we love the tuna flakes.
